Known worldwide as “Dr. Deep Sea,” Dr. Joseph Dituri brings an unmatched depth of experience to the fields of hyperbaric medicine and biomedical research. A retired U.S. Navy Commander with a 28-year military career, Dr. Dituri specialized in saturation diving, undersea rescue systems, and the development of advanced life support technologies. His final military assignment saw him leading cutting-edge maritime system programs at U.S. Special Operations Command, where he managed certification efforts for deep submergence and submarine rescue systems.
After retiring from service, Dr. Dituri transitioned to academia and research, earning his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and currently serving as an associate professor at the University of South Florida. In 2023, he gained international recognition for spending 100 consecutive days underwater at Jules’ Undersea Lodge in Key Largo — a feat that broke a Guinness World Record and advanced global understanding of human physiology under pressure.
